Where We Came From

Where We Are Going

Eastland Church of God has a rich and wonderful heritage.  The church began in 1948 as a few Christians committed to the Biblical message of holiness, Christian unity, and evangelism.  In 1964 after meeting in houses and other church buildings, we became the Eastland Parkway Church of God when our location moved to Eastland Parkway.  After moving to our current location in the early 1980s, we shortened it to Eastland Church of God.
Eastland Church of God exists to know Jesus more and to make Jesus known!

What we believe

Eastland Church is a congregation affiliated with the Church of God (Anderson, IN). If you’d like to learn more about Eastland’s beliefs, click here.

God

We believe in one God who reveals himself in three persons Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who created all things visible and invisible, and out of chaos created order. Each person of the Trinity serves a unique role to bring God glory and accomplish his purposes in the world.
Gen 1:26; 2 Cor 13:14

Salvation

We believe that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis by which humans can have a relationship with God. God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for and forgiveness of their sin.
John 1:12-13; John 3:16; John 11:25-26; Romans 6:23

The Bible

We are a people of the Bible—the Old and New Testaments, supernaturally inspired, preserved across time, cultures, and continents, delivered to us, useful for reproof and instruction, for righteousness. The Bible is the authoritative source by which God guides people as they go through their daily lives.
2 Tim 3:14–17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105

Humanity

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to live in relationship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.
Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:8-10

Vision

Knowing Jesus More

We believe that God calls us to grow closer to him through the power and work of the Holy Spirit.
"The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you"
John 14:26

Making Jesus known

We recognize God's command through Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Core Values

Generosity
We are compelled toward investments in the person of God with our time, talents, and resources.

Matthew 6:21
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Luke 16:10
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."

Truth
We are convinced of God’s Truth and designs for our lives knowing they create freedom and flourishing.

Ephesians 2:10
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them"

Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose"

Authenticity
We are cultivating a realness in our worship and community that engages everyone with love and compassion.

Colossians 3:12-14
"Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony."

Matthew 22:37-39
"Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself."

Growth
We are committed to developing habits and disciplines that help us know Jesus more.

Acts 2:42
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
Influence
We are consciously sharing God’s story in us with the world around us.

Psalm 71:15-16
"My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. With the mighty deeds of the Lord God, I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone."
