Connect Journal

Let's connect to Jesus together through scripture!
What is the Connect Journal?
The Connect  Journal is how we are learning to hear God speak through His Word each day. Part of the Connect Journal is a Bible reading plan, but it’s way more than a reading plan. Inside the pages of your Connect Journal is a method that can help you hear God speak to you through His Word.
How to Do the Connect Journal:
  • Step 1
    • Read the daily scripture with an open heart and mind.
  • Step 2
    • Choose a way to engage the scripture: S.O.A.P., Lectio Divina, or Scripture Reflection.
  • Write on a New Journal Page. Use the S.O.A.P method:
    • Scripture- As you read, write out the verse (s) that stuck out to you.
    • Observation-What truth can you learn? Are there any warnings? Principles? Commands? What is the overall message of the verse?
    • Application- How does this verse apply to your life today? How can you live differently in light of this truth?
    • Prayer-Turn these thoughts into prayer. Ask the Lord to show you how to meditate on and apply this scripture to your life.
    • Lectio Divina:
      • Read the scripture slowly. Pray that God would open your heart to the truth.
      • Read the scripture again. Highlight the words that pop out and mean something to you.
      • Read through it a third time. Pray through the words and journal what application God gives you.
    • Scripture Reflection:
      • What's happening in the scripture?
      • What does this reveal about God?
      • What does this mean to you?
      • What do I do with this truth?
  • Step 3
    • Write the date and scripture
  • Step 4
    • Give your thoughts a title
  • Step 5
    • What is my next step? This step is vital to getting the most out of this journal. Asking How can I connect to Jesus? How can I connect to the Church? How can I connect to my community?
  • Step 6
    • Re-read the week's scriptures on Saturday
  • Step 7
    • Join the conversation in our Connect Journal Bible Reading Community Group on Facebook. It's a great place to ask questions, share your thoughts, or just say what stood out to you on the day's reading.
